The Outfit Picker Outer (OPO) is an
electronic machine used to make getting ready in the morning easier. With your
wardrobe registered in its’ memory, the OPO will pick out an outfit for you
based on where you need to go, whether it be a job interview or just to class. The
OPO is the biggest up and coming technology advance in the fashion industry and will be popular with those who love fashion and looking good, along with those who are the opposite and don't want to put any effort into getting ready in the morning. While the OPO is a new and innovative idea, there are other companies out there with similar goals.
One company that is a popular outfit maker is the website Polyvore (http://www.polyvore.com/). Polyvore is a website bringing together the fashion community online and allowing them to share there new styles with each other. It allows you to clip or bookmark your favorite products from stores on the web, style these different products online to produce an outfit, and share your outfits and products with others on the web through various social media websites. While Polyvore is similar to the OPO, the OPO allows to customer to save time by putting together the outfit for you, however, It still gives you the option to mix and match your clothes on your own to create your own masterpiece.
Another company with a similar idea is the website My Virtual Model (http://www.mvm.com/index.html). While this website is similar to Polyvore, it is even more personal as it allows you to upload a picture of your face and mold your own body shape to physically try the outfits on in front of you on your computer screen. By creating a generic outfit on your model, the website then searches for an outfit online similar to the one you created and pulls together the various websites that you can purchase these products on. It also allows you to arrange items in a collage next to your model for a comparison to the outfit that your originally sought out to find. The comparison feature is a very smart idea and allows you to see what you like better in front of you without having to physically try each outfit on multiple times. With this in mind, I would add a feature to the OPO allowing you to compare outfits that the OPO picks out side-by-side to make choosing what to wear even easier for the customer.
